I don't know if I can really say I enjoyed this album, but in some ways it was pleasant to wake up to this and brew some coffee. The laid-back nature of it is a good preparation for my lazy day of trying to recover from a sinus infection.
The beats have a very spacey vibe, something that seems common amongst southern rappers in the late 00's. Some of the flows are kind of interesting, but that's the highest peak they ever reach. It's not like Curren$y is an incompetent lyricist, it just seems like he's not really able to speak on anything compelling at any point throughout the record. Maybe my harsh reaction speaks less for my view on Curren$y himself, and more towards the New Orleans approach to hip-hop (because I've noticed this is a very common factor in lots of NO hiphop).
Does anyone know of any "atypical" New Orleans hiphop?
