>Surgeon – This is for you shits
>Doc Warhol
>brown techno album

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, shere do I even start with this?
Everything there is as great as you would expect from Surgeon mixing some shit for one hour.
So let's start with the obvious: the track curation here is top notch, ranging from exploitably moody techno (Monolake) to straight industrial (Throbbing Gristle) with glitchy or non-glitchy IDM somewhere on the way (Aphex Twin, Squarepuher and Autechre). And the best here is that all the mixed tracks never really take all the focus. All of them are used «wisely» and bent into a twisted, dark but energetic way by Surgeon. The transition from one track (used as a pattern or texure bank more than anything) is always seemless, and despite the variety of material present here, everything feels truely united and is like a grand, coherent whole. And again, thanks to the many sounds brought to the table by what is pretty much a large sample stock, the whole mix never gets too repetitive (or rather redundant) and nothing seems to go in circles. Infact, every time you feel like a clumsy transition helps you go from one pattern to the other, THE TRANSITION ITSELF IS REPEATED UNTIL IT BECOMES THE NEXT EXPLOITABLE PATTERN AND IS MELTED INTO THE PREVIOUS PATTERN AS WELL AS THE UPCOMING ONE TO MAKE A FUCKING TRANSITION OUT OF A TRANSITION AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENS WITH THE NEXT TRANSITON MEANING YOU DO NOT HAVE TRANSITIONS AT ALL BUT MICROTRANSITION BETWEEN A LARGE MASS OF EXPLOITABLE PATTERNS AND HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO FUCKING WELL DONE THIS GUY IS A GODDAMN GENIUS AND IT'S ALSO ONE HOUR LONG AND NOT BORING WHAT THE FUCK HOW CAN THIS SHIT EVEN BE REAL?
Goddamn, I knew surgeon was good but not THAT good.
To put it simply, the guy knew exactly what he wanted to do. And he know how to do it.
What a shit.

Then, we go back to strict disco with Star Generation, and this is where Brown shows that not only he got every disco cliché down, but also understood how to turn them all to his advantage. The track stays bouncy and full of life through its perfectly oiled instrumentation (that even mnages to make the cheesy chors of the chorus slip by) and - again - Brown's incredible performance. The song keeps moving through all the possible structures found in disco music in a very clever way.
The next song, Women are something else is pretty much just Still all over again, which is a shame, and the title track of ths album is kind of a second try at doing what Star Generation did, but not as well.
Finally the album ends on a strange cover of elvis Presley's Love Me Tender. It's hard to get what it is doing there, and it really just feels out of place.

Now, if you could please send help, I would appreciate it greatly. I can't stop dancing to that album and i'm afraid of dying of exhaustion.

But the one problem wih the istrumentation is that it is excellent at what it is trying to do, but what it tries to do is a tad limited. certainly, the quiet space it creates is excellent to be in but it can be a little underwhelming in some of its repetitions (hopefuly this is rarely the case).
The incredible thing here though is the incredible alchemy between Zephariah's collected and tranquil recitation and the Hazardous Dub Company's bubble of profound sounds. This is certainly an excellent match in every regard, but it still leaves you a little hungry since you could argue the whole thing is a little safe and considering how well it works, you may find the end of the album pretty anti-climactic and abrupt. Not to mention that due to the very smooth and spacious nature of the music, it can easily turn into a simple background. Not to mention that disagreeing with Zephariah's clearly cut points of view and opinion can be kind of a deal breaker considering how the text is emphasised.
A flawed, ad contestable album, but an excellent experience.

If I take it like this, I actually like this album.
First obvious remark: the production on that thing is top-notch. Not exactly on a technical standpoint, but as a whole. The entire instrumentation of the album really has an identity on its own, and creates some incredible synthetic atmospheres out of very little and expands it into something strangely huge. And on top of thiss, you add Lean's vocals that either enhances the ensemble, or ruins it. Why and how? Because after all, when you really look at the whole picture, Lean's voice is pretty much treated and proceeded as another instrument, another layer to synthetize and add into the whole mix. So when it is hndled correctly,it can vastly enhance the whole thing, the same way a leading melodic line would, the same way a driving soloist would. However, the opposite is equally true (the song Blinded is a good example), when that additional instrumental layer is not included well, you end up with a poorly performed solo that ruins the experience regardless of how good the backing instrumental is.
(also, I'll have to ask that increasing the production value on this album alone makes it good, and made Unknown Death pretty bad. Because if you are going to release some maximalized synthetic music well… you gotta go all the way.)
