Low aren't folk but they've obviously been influenced by it especially as of late. This one shows their transitional period into shoegaze/electronic/folk/noise but contains none of that. It's just heavy, dark, dirge-y stuff. Unfortunately, it isn't their best album. 7/10, dark and beautiful for the most part.

Agreed. It does get a little overhyped though.

I'd say this. It resonates with me a lot, even though some of the songs are actually pretty happy.

This album is horrifying. It has a darkness to it which can only be accessed if you permeate the surface happy tracks. It's a dark, depressed and anxious album which explodes at the last few tracks.

Low's most depressive album.

The last two tracks on this form what is probably the best close to an album I've ever heard.

Other great closers are on Behold The Arctopus's Skullgrind, Psyopus's Odd Senses and Lantlo's Agape

This. People say that ICLIH is more depressing, but this album has a sense of despair which grows and grows before landing and exploding on the last two tracks. Even the happier, more upbeat tracks have this subtle and hidden sadness to it which can only be seen when you look underneath the surface.
