any singer-song writers lurking right now?
do you guys have any tips/advice/favorite methods for how you go about writing lyrics for your songs?
i always seem to have trouble writing lyrics: it's difficult for me to strike a balance between my lyrics being too "straight-forward" and cheesy versus being too "abstract" and weird/retarded.
like, i get annoyed with a lot of folk music for being the former, while lyricists like thom yorke from radiohead or avey from animal collective annoy me a lot with being the latter.
