How does the song Guillotine by Death Grips go?

Nah.

Pic related, I think some miss the humour in some of Death Grip's lyrics. Not saying they're all perfectly written but I think if you take everything MC Ride says 100% seriously you might miss some of the good aspects of the lyrics.

Also, related, I initially took most of the lyrics of ITAOTS too seriously. Once I interpreted them as more surreal, metaphorical lyrics I found myself enjoying the album much more.

I know these 2 albums are kind of "memes" but I assume most people here have heard them so what better examples.

So, how seriously do you take lyrics? Have you ever taken lyrics too seriously?

I just started getting into listening to music more seriously, and i feel like im doing it all wrong. I have to be in a 'mood' for a genre while a lot of my other friends that are into music can pop in anything, and be fine with it.

I think this can be considered "the shape of hip hop to come". Keep in mind it isnt my favorite of theirs, far from it, but its their first album. I feel like they popularized the genre of "punk-hop"/"noise-rap"

This trend is starting to get bigger and bigger, not only are smaller bands getting more recognition for doing the same kind of music, but some newcomers are obviously heavily influenced by it. Even a couple of mainstream artists have tried to incorporate elements of noise-rap into their music as a result of how popular it has been made by these guys
