Why is it that rock music is the one genre of music that has been able to remain relevant, commercially successful, and innovative for as long as it has?
It seems like every decade there is a genre that comes around and goes "we are so sick of guitars!! rock music is so irrelevant!!! there can be no more innovation in rock music!!! it's been taken as far as it can go!!!! it needs to be replaced!!!", then it becomes big for about 2 years and then dies, and rock music stays around. In the 70s it was disco, in the 80s it was techno, in the 90s it was rave music, in the 00s it was dubstep, and in the 10s it's been brostep, which is already dying if are not dead already. Every time this happens, rock music just stays relevant, commercially successful, is not affected at all and keeps on innovating and progressing into the future.
This will probably result in people pointing out the "le wrong generation" demographic, but even that I think is a pro in favor of rock music, because it shows that even children incapable of logical thought can tell that rock is the superior style of music.
Is rock music the true greatest style of music in the history of humanity?
Is rock music humanity's greatest achievement? I think so.
