is this genre just an attraction to the bland and mundane as a rebellion against the extreme stimulus based internet culture it was spawned from?

why does vaporwave make me want to kill myself?

I want to get into vaporwave so I have floral shoppe a chance, but at most I would say is enjoy it as background music. I listened to this マクロスMACROSS 82-99 - SAILORWAVE (Full Album): http://youtu.be/pxbQXg3BvIE and loved it, is this still vaporwave? what really identifies the genere, I just go by its vaporwave is it ends in -wave, what should I listen to next?

Could someone just explain to me what this kind of music means to them? I'm having a hard time understanding it.
