i started when i was 10 with like tool/deftones/NIN/etc., then morphed into a hardcore/metalcore moshpit sxe kiddie when i wanted something heavier than post-hardcore, then i kept looking for heavier music and ended up with black metal & thrash, then i wanted heavier and i ended up with drone/doom etc.

and 9 years later now i looped back around I think, I've gone into listening to pretty much all of the genres while rediscovering my love for cheesy angsty shit like early Deftones but at the same time I can't get enough of grindcore and powerviolence

also when i was around 12-14 i wrote really embarrassing sonic fanfiction but one of my friends from that scene was big into stoner/sludge/etc. like kyuss and shit so i got into that as a sidebar kind of separate from the rest of my journey into metal genres.

i am no longer a sxe kiddie but i still have a soft spot for my retard moshpit beatdown tough guy hardcore, even though i am a skinny black kid
