I think there's a great deal of charm to M.I.A.'s lyrics.

It's like sparse punk poetry, spat in a kind of half singing half rapping kind of way.

It's not the verbose backpacker rap type lyrics, no, but it hits home in the same way a Hemingway sentence does.
