Can someone explain the appeal of Depeche Mode to me? I am not sure what I am supposed to be feeling when I listen to this music. Usually there's some sort of message represented that can be sort of universally understood by a wide audience. I am curious to know what kind of things you guys feel when you listen to an album like violator. I have wanted to like these guys for a while, because they are grouped together with bands like The Smiths and The Cure a lot whom I adore. I think that's probably because these bands are often associated with being sensitive and gay though, which I think is just derogatory bullshit.
