How did this album manage to get as much attention as it did? I mean, top reviewed album of 2013 according to Metacritic.. what?

What exactly was the catalyst for this album's popularity? Being featured on the Apple iPhone ad? The p4k BNM?

Not trying to slag the band at all, by the way, I actually like the album very much. But to think that just another metal band managed to reach these heights of popularity within a relatively short amount of time is baffling to me.
