While the issues I have with Mysteries bring the score down from being an 8+ and a blue tag, it doesn't hinder the album from being the great black metal record it is. For fans of Gorguts and similar acts who combine noisier elements with the already rough black metal, this is a record for you. Mysteries is a hypnotic journey through distorted guitar feedback that sounds like a howling wind across the thundering drums and almost drowned out guitars. It's a relentless album and probably the best metal record I've heard so far this year.
