>Trilogy - Carpenter Brut
Pretty nice, especially for synthwave, a genre I don't normally gravitate towards. Trilogy, if you don't know, is a compilation of the first three EPs by Carpenter Brut (plus two bonus tracks) which was a cool experience being that it was basically like 3 mini albums and each one had a climax. I especially love the track titles for some reason, they remind me of that game Hotline Miami (I think Carpenter Brut was even in the soundtrack but I could be wrong). The main issue I have with Trilogy is that the sound stays relatively the same throughout the entire album (the album lasts an hour and a half so this tends to drag out). I give it a 6.5/10, it's still decent and had some incredibly great moments but could have used a little more variation as far as sound goes.
>The Ark Work - Liturgy
Surprisingly entertaining. While the first track was kinda taxing on the ears, the album eventually evolved into a loud epic almost Swans-esque piece that certainly wasn't bad. Before listening to this album, I will admit, I heard nothing but bad things about it, so perhaps the surprise that it actually wasn't completely horrible has inflated my view on The Ark Work but I do believe it was worth the time to listen to it. Liturgy (a band I have not heard in any form prior to this) builds up their sound from bold and royal beginnings to earthquakes of sound that almost have an aire of biblical apocalypse to them, which I thought was a neat touch. This album gets a 7.6/10, I liked what I heard, the only mishaps in this album was the occasionally cheap production and the repetitive nature in a couple songs that really shouldn't have been as repetitive as they are.
