So what was so influential about this, exactly? I enjoy it a good amount, but I'm not sure I see what's so important about it.

Can someone explain the appeal of Pavement, specifically this? Stephen Malkmus is as obnoxious as Thurston Moore, except, instead of all the stuff that's good about Sonic Youth, you get lots of laid back garage-y indie rock, which is nice but all starts sounding the same after a while. I liked Crooked Rain but found it difficult to get enthused about Slanted & Enchanted, after a while it was like "well if you don't care then neither do I".

The most vivid memory I have of Pavement was waking up super early for my SAT test a few years ago and listening to S&E on the drive over to the school at like 6AM
