Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too Late
I'm gonna start off with this. I like Drake. Take Care is an excellent album. And While I think this mixtape is pretty great, I don't think it's gonna convince anybody who didn't already like Drake.
Anyway, I'm gonna start out with talking about the beats. One of the components that makes his music so interesting to me is the production. It's very ethereal, open. That is no different here. The production here is pretty fantastic. The beats here are dark and moody, and they sound crisp and clear. I love them.
Drake himself has gone through a bit of a change here. He sounds more confident than ever here. It doesn't sound like he's putting on a "hard" voice like he does on something like "Worst Behavior", and he doesn't try to make himself out to be something he is not. He's also pretty personal in what he talks about at as well, like on songs such as "You & the 6." And some of these songs are just really goddamn smooth, like "Jungle".
I loved this. It's his second best project so far, and it may even be just as good as Take Care. I'm pretty excited for his album this year, needless to say. 8.5/10.
