>I've re-shot a video about hip-hop and race like four times now, but I just can't bring myself to put it out there, because ultimately, I just don't think it's my place to "weigh in" on these issues. That's my problem, it's in my head, I'm not saying white people can't talk about race, it's just the idea of putting out something as permanent and public as one of these videos, talking casually about these subjects, is in my view a mortally bad idea.

And like everyone I talk to offline, black (apologies if this term doesn't sit well with you), white or what have you, whose opinions I respect, has been like, "Yeah, no, don't publish that," or...to quote one recent email: "You know I'd love to see it, and I would understand where you're coming from, but if even one person doesn't or decides it's problematic, there's no telling where it could go." And that's the advice I'm taking.
