So why do so many people care about Pitchfork's opinion? It's literally one website of around ten core review websites, and yet this one seems to be the most 'important'. Why is this? With TheNeedleDrop I can understand, as he seems like a lurker, or at least acknowledges /mu/ in some of his videos, and just seems 'internet-conscious' for lack of a better word. His points are also very fleshed-out and his opinion comes across very clearly. But I don't understand why Pitchfork's reviews have such an elevated status above the other reviews. Why is this?
