Seriously though, Children of God has the best mix of Swans' sounds all condensed into one album. It still carries the heavy hitting, brutality from everything that came before it, but introduces Jarboe to the spotlight and features the beautifully contrasting sounds that show up throughout their releases in the 90's.
Sure it doesn't feature the monolithic, walls of sound that Swans have been playing with since the reformation, but I think Children of God is the best example of the sound of pre-breakup Swans.
