I just bought my Dual 1219 about a month ago for $180, which winds up being close to £110, I overpaid a bit because I really wanted it but I digress.

Assuming you have nothing to go with your turntable, you'd also need need a pre-amp, amplifier, and speakers. I dunno how it is across the pond but here with a bit of digging you could come across some decent vintage equipment that'll fit your budget, or you could get new, budget components to go with your vintage turntable (Any new turntable that'll fit your budget, especially factoring in the cost of components, will suck).

If you've got a receiver with a Phono input, that means you wont need a pre-amp or amplifier, as the receiver has both of those. If your speakers are active (have their own power source rather than passive, where the amplifier powers them) then you won't need an amplifier.

If you come across something, google the make and model and see what places like audiokarma have to say about it, if they dont say it's terrible and assuming it's in working condition, jump on it if you think its a fair price. Theres also "sleeper" tables that are rebranded turntables made by big manufacturers. My first turntable was an MCS 6603 that I got for $30, whereas a Technics SL-D2 (Same manufacturer, same working parts, slightly different styling and brand name) is more likely to cost a little more.

As somebody said before that only matters if you're a DJ. I dunno about you but I dont start up my turntable with the cartridge already tracking the record.
