I remember listening to The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull last year and being absolutely bored to death by its drones and textures and slowly evolving songs - in fact, I never touched it again. 'How the fuck is this like Boris? This doesn't sound like Pink at all!'
After seeing people compare the Ambarchi/O'Malley/Dunn album to Earth everywhere I decided to give this another listen.
I am fucking FLOORED. It's beautiful. It's entrancing. It's HEAVY. Every song here's based around one or two riffs that slowly evolve throughout the track's length (generally ~8 minutes), often wandering but subtly working towards the point where the last minute barely sounds anything like the first minute. Kinda like Boards of Canada in that sense. There's big riffs, pianos, organs and plodding drums. It really evokes the feeling of suffocating summer heat and listening to this I can almost *smell* honey and flowers.
9/10, fucking amazing.
