The main issue with all the clear directions this album takes is that few of them are justified. In most cases, the unusual instrumentation has no real reason to be there other than adding some strangeness to the sound, but is not taken far enough to be worth it an create something really mentionnable. However, the few times when this happens, it does work very well. Sadly it only happens on the last two songs, that sound like the only parts ofthe album in which some care has been put. All the rest sounds like it is trying to be a statement, but these last moments really show some progression, careful composition and are the only parts of the album that feel justified. Had the whole album been like this, it would have been excellent. Sadly a lot of it is just something that sounds like it is supposed to have something to say but is probably too busy focusing on itself to make some sense.
Also, if you're really going to try and come off as super deep and artsy, then try to make your french poem gramatically correct, you tryhard. At this point you were just looking for an excuse to have your son on the album.

Talk about strange stuff, this isn't bad either. A whole album made with sounds of heartbeats, recordings of electrocardiograms and such.
The idea here is pretty neat and hopefuly, the execution does not disappoint either. All the sounds are heavily manipulated and sometimes distorded to create some strange mixtures, often balanced between noise and clearer souds. It's pretty wild and odd but the final result is interesting, because it takes a good premise, talks the talk and walks the walk, plus the final result has some incredible moments. Seriously. Sometimes, the manipulation almost end up soundling like some dub techno, ambiant or rythmic noise.
It's pretty wild.
Hasture wins this round.
