i honestly thought Doris was better than EARL and i think i'm the only person. Earl needed a little more polish as a rapper i think, EARL was raw but also somewhat aimless. also Doris had the pervasive atmosphere that reminded me of great albums like Good Kid, m.A.A.d City or My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. the atmosphere was represented both in the lyrics AND the instrumentals, unlike in EARL where i felt the instrumentals were less cohesive. maybe Earl put down better verses in some songs on EARL i guess that's why people prefer it? it's hard for me to see Doris as a let down under any criteria though.
