>Eureka - Jim O'Rourke
I'm definitely gonna try revisiting this sometime again because I just did not understand it. It was very strange, the music was straightforward and honestly not that experimental in any way but there was something about it that I just felt perplexed about. I wasn't even sure what it was until about halfway through, but then I kinda noticed that the music was completely aimless; even though the song structures and the keys were very normal, the music felt like it was going nowhere. It wasn't building up to anything, it wasn't even trying to sound consistent, like at the beginning there were two folk-ish songs and then after that, there were two songs that shifted into a jazz-like instrumentation while still clinging a bit to the folk-y structures but with rock influences(Through the Night Softly sounded a lot like Great Gig in the Sky but with a saxophone instead of a singer and with a slightly different chord progression) it just felt really really aimless and that made me feel confused. Now, it wasn't /all/ bad, there were some pretty nice moments but for now the rating is about a 4.4/10, this is one of those albums that I want to like because a lot of people seem to enjoy it but I think I need to listen to it again sometime in the future because for now I just couldn't see what was so great about it, unfortunately.
