>You can't listen to the Rite of Spring and understand what Stravinsky was all about.

lol I guess that's why they used it as a soundtrack in a cartoon for children

There's no need to listen to them consecutively, since they were composed individually.

If you're talking about the Solti/CSO recording, that one was a lot better than I would have expected before listening to it; the conductor and orchestra are prone to certain quirks (or excesses, depending on whom you ask), especially when they're working together, and I didn't think it would suit the character of those pieces terribly well, but they actually moderate themselves and it ends up working out.

I still have to plug the Boulez/Berlin Phil recordings, though. Brings out the real essence in the best way I've personally heard.

>>40004877
Fuck it, I might as well just steal the motif and compose my own.

There's a difference between loving a particular food (because it's all you've tried) or a particular band (because they give you feels) and loving music in general. If you loved music in general you would love the heights of it.

It's like the people who claim to love Stravinsky yet only love a few of his vast output.

>Romanticism everywhere
I count five recordings, and that's if one counts Brahms are a Romantic composer (which is a big stretch).

>Susan Alexander-Max
>some hack
Oh wow.

>And I doubt that Bartok album has his best work on it- Bluebeard's Castle
Oh WOW.

>Arvo Pärt?
You mean baby's first choral minimalist?
>the best Romantic composers like Carl Maria von Weber or Saint-saens
oh LOL.
>What about Samuel Barber?
Did somebody just watch Platoon?
>Or Aaron Copland?
No beef with Copland.

>I'm tired of this Vivaldi, Chopin, Haydn, Beethoven, and Bach babby bullshitting
You're tired of the greatest composers of all time? That's too bad for you, frankly. I've only got two of those five on my chart, but I'm not so immature as to suggest that anyone who purports to like them is just faking it. That's idiocy.
>and how cosmopolitan you are when you mix it with the likes of Ke$ha. "wow 2 wel ronded 5 me, wise enuf to leik de old stuf and stil can rokk out XDDD!"
Some people are better-rounded than you are. Deal with it.

>Go spend an afternoon listening to cool opera shit that's out there, I wonder why nobody ever listens to opera here.
I guess you didn't notice the three operas on there (and excerpts from the fourth), as well as the oratorio?

I love it when somebody types a long post like this and all they succeed in doing is demonstrating their own ignorance beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Nah I'm just yanking your chain, those are great pieces. Beethoven's even-numbered symphonies don't get enough love.
