You, Whom I Have Always Hated by The Body & Thou is quite an excellent sludge metal record, better than the albums of either band from last year. It's a nauseatingly heavy record due to the tortured vocals, crushing riffs and the drums, which are high in the mix (this record really profits from its great production imo). This record's a bit of a one-trick pony though, but considering it runs for less than 30 minutes it's short enough to not mind the lack of variation.
6 and 12 String Guitar by Leo Kottke is an american primitivism record that sounds good all throughout and keeps itself separated from Fahey's music through its more traditional blues and folk influences, but if you were to ask me if it's really more than a well-executed primitivism record, I would have to say no. It's very good for what it is and highly recommended to fans of the genre, but it's no standout. 6.5/10
