>not a 10.0
*yawn*
Why could MBDTF get a 10.0 and not this?
Is Channel Orange (9.5) really better than this?
Kendrick Lamar's last year album is apparently better too (9.5)
Big Boi's 2010 album got a 9.2

Why are Pitchfork harder on indie than they are one hip hop, contemporary R&B and other predominantly mainstream artists?

I think the last indie artist to get a 9.2 was LCD Soundystem's 2010 album (which wasn't even THAT good)

Was anyone here when Pitchfork gave MBDTF the 10.0? What was /mu/'s response?

>tfw /mu/ blindly follows pitchfork

>tfw mu only likes ITAOTS so much because pitchfork gave it a 10

>tfw mu only likes MBDTF because pitchfork gave it a 10

>tfw mu only hates childish gambino because pitchfork gave him a 0

>tfw they only like RAM because pitchfork gave it BNM

>tfw they like radiohead just because everyone else on mu likes it, despite radiohead being bland, generic, mediocre, uncreative, boring, shit.

>tfw /mu/ hates things simply because of how popular they are and what date they were released

>tfw most of /mu/ doesn't even make their own music

>tfw most of /mu/ doesnt even smoke crack

Will Kanye ever dethrone Radiohead as the top p4k darling?

Not counting side projects, reissues, live records or EPs:

Radiohead

>back to back 10's
>followed by a 9.0 and back to back 9.3s, and unprecedented streak of "holy shit" level ratings
>lowest rating for a new album is 7.9
>has number 1 album of 2000-2004 (Kid A) as rated by Pitchfork staff
>has number 1 album of the 2000s (Kid A) as rated by Pitchfork staff
>Top 2 spots on the 1996-2011 reader's poll (OK Computer and Kid A) as well as #6 (In Rainbows)

Kanye

>10 and a 9.5 back to back
>also has a 9.5 for his second album and a string of 8 range
>lowest rating for a new album is 7.6
>Has 1 album in 1996-2011 reader's poll (MBDTF) at #9

Sure Radiohead outweighs Kanye now by quite a bit but they have a bit of time on their side. I think Radiohead is on the down slope and Kanye is moving up, all we need is another top 10 decade list and a solid 10 and a 9 range score and I think he is a contender to be the top p4k darling of all time.

The only other entity that comes close I think is Animal Collective but they blew it hard core with that burrito album.

I've lost count of how many dogshit albums Pitchfork gave a 10 (MBDTF is a good example).

But they gave Pet Sounds only a 9.4?

That's fucking disgusting. Y'all need to kill yourselves for reading this shit.

So I think everyone here can agree that Pitchfork's album best of the decade list thing is totally shit

so if you had to make a top 10 of the best albums of the decade so far, which would you pick?

it's like this board is full of goddamn illiterate children i swear to god. you guys have destroyed any and all critical credibility when it comes to music by praising this fucking clown.

voodoo : 10
there will be blood : 7.8
mbdtf : 10
run the jewels : 9

average : 7.6

>Madonna is going to make the 2015 AOTY

just think about it, pitchfork are bound to give it a 9 or 10 because it has SOPHIE on it and also they like to be smug about enjoying mainstream music

and fantano will give it a shit review because it has SOPHIE on it and he doesnt inflate his ratings for mainstream music

so its literally what happened to MBDTF
