Always wondered why I keep coming back to their stuff despite it being seemingly retarded meme dad music, and really it’s because it’s how pop/dance music should naturally sound in 2012-present. It also has a lot of genuine heart among the meme-y autism.

The music really makes me reflect on how backwards our approach to production is now. Why do we fight so hard in a DAW to not make it sound like a DAW? Why is ‘digital’ bad and not a sonic aesthetic in itself? Why do we constantly recycle the sounds of 80s/90s hardware? At first I though AG Cook was just an autist making fruity loops stuff but just could afford to get it mixed and mastered by pros because he’s a rich kid but he’s actually the contemporary Trevor Horn and Warhol in one.
