One thing I've come to realize about many Westerners is we KNOW we're being propagandized. We know the media is trying to divert our attention away from our insecure jobs, our rising cost of living and our dwindling savings accounts. The difference with chunks is they don't realize they're being propagandized and just take everything from the Global Times as gospel. And knowing what a male-dominated society China is, I wonder if these "management" figures have also been cooked, like everything else out of Beijing.>>63376452
I have bought Chinese and Russian watches; basically the only two non-Western offerings. Here is what I've noticed. Russian watches are like everything else in Russia: crude, but effective. They have ingenious and inventive designs to overcome problems with minimal precision and material input (eg, Amphibia crystal that becomes more water-tight the deeper it goes). They have zero pretension and they are designed from a purely utilitarian standpoint.
Chinese watches are not unique at all, and largely just imitate or straight up copy Western designs. They come up with nothing on their own; not movements (even the Seagull movement is a copy of a Western design), cases or anything. They look extremely impressive, but the quality control and materials are horrendous and it doesn't take much to throw them out of spec. Nice to look at but ultimately trash. Is this the concept of "face" ?>>63376487
It's more like Seiko makes the best stuff. Citizen has always played second fiddle to them and puts out kind of ho-hum, run-of-the mill stuff.
